UMA NOVA ESPERANÇA PARA DOENTES COM NECESSIDADE DE REIRRADIAÇÃO DE LESÕES TUMORAIS

Com o investimento que a JÚLIO TEIXEIRA, SA, acaba de realizar num equipamento de HIPERTERMIA SUPERFICIAL nas suas instalações no INSTITUTO CUF, Porto, torna-se o primeiro centro de Radioncologia em Portugal a oferecer uma tecnologia que se tem mostrado eficaz no tratamento de tumores irressecáveis, que já tenham sido previamente irradiados, como acontece nas recidivas de cancro da mama ao nível da parede torácica.

O procedimento, com recurso a um dispositivo médico (Hydrosun®TWH1500) que induz sem contacto um aquecimento das lesões, num processo controlado por termografia, sensibiliza o tecido tumoral imediatamente antes da administração do tratamento de Radioterapia. Deste modo, reduz-se significativamente o respetivo número de sessões, dose e toxicidade associadas.

A Júlio Teixeira, SA, faz agora parte de um grupo internacional de Centros de Radioterapia de grande reputação onde tal tecnologia está já disponível, nomeadamente na Alemanha, Suíça, Áustria e Reino Unido.

[:en]With the investment that JÚLIO TEIXEIRA, SA, has just made in SUPERFICIAL HYPERTHERMIA equipment at its facilities at INSTITUTO CUF, Porto, it becomes the first Radioncology center in Portugal to offer a technology that has proven effective in the treatment of tumors unresectable, which have already been previously irradiated, as occurs in recurrences of breast cancer at the level of the chest wall.
The procedure, using a medical device (Hydrosun®TWH1500) that heats the lesions without contact, in a process controlled by thermography, sensitizes the tumor tissue immediately before the administration of the Radiotherapy treatment. In this way, the respective number of sessions, dose and associated toxicity are significantly reduced.
