A NEW HOPE FOR PATIENTS IN NEED OF RE-IRRADIATION OF TUMOR LESIONS

With the investment that JÚLIO TEIXEIRA, SA, has just made in SUPERFICIAL HYPERTHERMIA equipment at its facilities at INSTITUTO CUF, Porto, it becomes the first Radioncology center in Portugal to offer a technology that has proven effective in the treatment of tumors unresectable, which have already been previously irradiated, as occurs in recurrences of breast cancer at the level of the chest wall.
The procedure, using a medical device (Hydrosun®TWH1500) that heats the lesions without contact, in a process controlled by thermography, sensitizes the tumor tissue immediately before the administration of the Radiotherapy treatment. In this way, the respective number of sessions, dose and associated toxicity are significantly reduced.
Júlio Teixeira, SA, is now part of an international group of highly reputable Radiotherapy Centers where such technology is already available, namely in Germany, Switzerland, Austria and the United Kingdom.
